I fell in love with the fabric, patterns, and people of Thread when it opened in 2010. In 2012, I began working at Thread and grew to love it even more. In November 2013, I purchased Thread from Alyson Ray and found the perfect outlet for my personal creativity and my love of the local sewing community. My goals for Thread are to provide the community with a store that features beautiful, high-quality fabrics and notions for apparel, quilting, home decor, and to create a hub of inspiration that will foster friendships among the sewing community.

My love for sewing began when I was in my high school home economics class. That passion grew when Charlee Beth,my daughter, was born I began smocking and heirloom sewing, and continued when my son Clark was born. I have been sewing clothing, home décor, and quilts for 25 years. When I am not immersed in a sewing project, I enjoys travel, exercise, and spending time with my husband, Brad, and our children. I am excited to share my passion for sewing and fabric with the customers and friends of Thread.

In 2007, my Nana guided me through my first sewing project, a bib apron with a full skirt and ribbon ties. The apron was a mess. The gathers were uneven, the seams were crooked, and I insisted on leaving raw edges everywhere. But I loved the process and I loved my apron. I soon jumped into my first quilt,  a queen sized zigzag quilt that was far beyond my meager skill set. Since 2007, I have not stopped sewing outside my skill set – from my first log cabin quilt, to bridesmaid’s dresses, to drafting and sewing my sister’s French lace wedding dress – I believe that with a seam ripper and a little tenacity, anything is possible in sewing!

I began working at my favorite fabric shop, Thread, in 2011. My goals at Thread are to inspire confidence in our customers and to create an environment of positivity and encouragement in the local sewing community.  When I am not at Thread or behind my sewing machine, I am likely to be biking or watching Parenthood with my husband and a box of Kleenex.
